This is the first post after I decided to change the format of the blog. Previously, we documented what we did every week and discussed each and every lead. With almost 500 leads discussed, it was growing a little repetitive and I felt that what could be learned from it could be learned from what had been done from that point. If you had not been following along and are new to the site, click on the ‘new, start here’ link on the top left side of the page.
What I want to do is post more about our different experiences and about all of the other sides of flipping houses. The goal is to build more of a discussion with you, the readers. Just want to keep it entertaining and educational. As far as what I do to build the business up and keep it operating, that can all be gleaned from the 34 weeks that were documented already. I will still be sharing details about deals and about how we are running our house flipping business.

Bandit Signs Going Out Again
Gutsy or stupid? Last week I wrote that we got nailed putting out signs (well my guy that puts them out did) during the week. No fines or even calls from code compilance, but they did make him take them all down. Still not sure if this is really what happened, but it is what I was told happened (in a very convincing way, I might add).
So, this time, I told him to put them in an area where I don’t usually get hassled by code compliance. He is also going to put them up over the weekend. We’ll see how it goes.
Time For A Contest With Awesome Prizes
It’s contest time here at FlippingJunkie.com!
I’d like to see a lot of people participating and so Melissa and I decided it would be best to do something fun and something that everyone can participate in, regardless of experience.
First, what’s the prize going to be? Well, if you remember, FlippingJunkie won first place for best up and coming 2011 flipping houses blog over at REIClub.com. Thanks again for all of the votes. With the win came some real estate investing expert interview sets on different topics. They have been sitting in my office ever since. It’s time they found a good home. I’ve gone through some of them and they are top notch (which means I will probably be keeping some of them – but don’t worry, I got multiple copies of them so that I could give them away).
The two expert interview courses that I am going to give away are:
Wholesaling Interviews – Interviews by Steve Cook, Than Merrill and Mike Collins
Private Money Interviews – Interviews by Patrick Riddle, John Burley and Alan Cowgill
Ok. So now you probably want to know how you can easily win these awesome interviews. That’s the fun part.
The contest is going to involve you going out and hitting the pavement. We want you to begin looking for distressed properties (you may already be and this will motivate you to look for more) by driving for dollars. One course will be awarded to the person that submits a picture of the ugliest house we’ve ever seen and one will be awarded to the person who submits a picture of the craziest house we’ve ever seen.
The ugliest house should be something that is completely dillapidated and rundown and just plain ugly! The craziest house should be something that is just insane. Something like a 3 story manufactured home where they just stacked 3 manufactured homes on top of each other or something.
The rules are that an address has to be submitted with the picture so that we can verify that you actually spotted the house while driving for dollars and didn’t just do a search on the internet.
The contest will end next Sunday, November 27 and the winners will be announced the next day. We will probably choose the top 10 for each category to display on the blog. I understand this is a holiday week. But, that should just mean that you have more time off to go and do something like this. Take the family and make a game of it. Don’t forget to write down all the addresses of vacant houses you spot because you should be mailing letters to those people to see if they would be interested in selling their house.
